Let’s face it, Crankbrothers hasn’t historically had the best luck with its wheels. That all changed, however, with the release of its Synthesis series in late 2018, designed by a dynamic duo of carbon rim gurus, Jason Shiers, founder of Enve, and Mello Bouwmeester, founder of Bouwmeester Composites.

The carbon hoops were unique in that they were front- and rear-specific and designed to provide just the right amount of stiffness and compliance needed at each end of the bike to maximize performance, comfort and traction. In a world crowded by overly stiff, harsh-riding carbon rims, the Synthesis hoops answered the call for improved ride quality.
