When they ask, I begrudgingly tell my friends that they shouldn’t bother with any flat shoe other than a Five Ten. I’ll let you know, I say, when there’s something else worthwhile. Of the many shoes I’ve tried, Northwave’s Clans are the closest to worth considering as an alternative to the now-Adidas-owned brand, but even those aren’t clearly better in any specific way, which makes them tough to recommend to someone who knows Five Tens work for them, and can (usually) get a pair at a bike shop. So, do the updated Ion Scrub Amp shoes merit a recommendation?
